About the brand
Fruit of the Loom is a very old American company founded by Robert Knight in 1871 in the state of Rhode Island. The brand had its heyday after the Second World War. It was for a long time the only brand of T-Shirt known and spontaneously cited by the general public. This celebrity was, among other things, reinforced by certain actors such as Marlon Brando and James Dean who was not afraid to wear what was long considered a simple underwear. At the start of the 1980s, the brand experienced difficulties, numerous successive takeovers and very strong international competition.
