Description
FIELD NOTES Fall Flowers
Fall Flowers Edition, a tribute to autumn flowers, delivered by the artisanal excellence of Field Notes.
Fall 2025 marks the return of a tradition: the 68th quarterly edition of Field Notes, entitled "Fall Flowers." This series pays homage to three little-known but essential late-season flowers—purple coneflower, false foxglove, and common chicory. While spring flowers capture all eyes, these three discreet, robust, and elegant plants persist and beautify our landscapes when the days darken and the cold sets in. For this edition, Field Notes commissioned Jennifer Farrell of the prestigious Starshaped Press studio to create illustrations inspired by early 20th-century publishers' bindings. Her work, both precise and poetic, captures the essence of these flowers with timeless elegance in the graphic spirit of Art Deco.
Uncompromising Craftsmanship
Field Notes doesn't just create notebooks: each edition is the result of a demanding artisanal process, where every detail counts. To evoke the texture of vintage cloth books, the covers of this series were printed with three subtle metallic inks on Mohawk's 100#C "Midnight Blue" Mosaic paper, offering a finish reminiscent of the grain of burlap. The result is a luxurious yet understated look, faithful to the spirit of these exceptional editions.
Inside, the pages are lined in a delicate blue-gray on the renowned Domtar Lynx 60#T paper, prized for its quality and durability.
Crafted with Excellence
Each notebook in this edition is the result of meticulous craftsmanship and a commitment to quality:
Printing: Produced by The Graphic Arts Studio, LLC (Barrington, Illinois) on a six-color Heidelberg Speedmaster CD 102S press, ensuring unparalleled precision and depth of color.
Inks: Exclusive use of soy-based inks—"Mauve Echinacea," "Deep Denim," and "Autumn Sky"—for a vibrant yet environmentally friendly finish.
Binding: Produced with a Muller Martini 6-pocket saddle stitcher, in homage to the pioneers of stapling, for a strong and durable finish.
Finishing: Precision-rounded corners (9.5 mm radius), ruled lines at 6.4 mm, and an exclusive Futura typeface (Paul Renner, 1927), in collaboration with Monotype.
A Limited Edition, A Timeless Tribute
As with every Field Notes creation, this series is printed and manufactured in the United States, respecting the most demanding artisanal traditions. With only 25,000 copies available, in sets of three notebooks, "Fall Flowers" stands out as a collector's item, combining beauty, functionality, and rarity.
For lovers of exceptional editions, this series embodies the very essence of Field Notes: a perfect blend of art, craftsmanship, and high standards.
