This edition of the Field notes notebooks is divided into two packs of 3 notebooks (Pack A & Pack B). The covers reproduce the naturalist works of Rex Brasher. This American artist (1869-1960) spent his life documenting the trees and birds of North America. A great traveler, he accumulated numerous drawings and writings on fauna and flora. At the end of the twenties, at almost 60 years old, satisfied with his paintings, he undertook to publish a collection of his works. At that time, the quality of color printing was not satisfactory and he opted for a black and white edition. Rex Brasher then hand-colored the 87,000 pages of the nearly 100 series of twelve volumes of The Birds and Trees of North America, which he completed in 1932. The Birds and Trees of North America series reproduces 6 illustrations from this colossal work.

Description

FIELD NOTES trio of notebooks Birds and Trees series B

This edition of the Field Notes notebooks is distinguished by its division into two separate packs, each containing three notebooks (Pack A and Pack B). The covers of these notebooks are decorated with reproductions of the naturalist works of Rex Brasher, a remarkable American artist (1869-1960). Throughout his life, Brasher devoted his time to documenting with meticulous precision the trees and birds of North America. A great traveler and keen observer, he amassed an impressive collection of drawings and writings detailing the fauna and flora of this region.

In the late twenties, as he approached his 60th birthday, Brasher, satisfied with his paintings, decided to publish a collection of his works. However, at that time, color printing techniques were not yet sufficiently advanced to do justice to his creations. As a result, he opted for a black and white edition. But Brasher did not stop there. With unwavering determination and patience, he began to hand-color each of the 87,000 pages in the nearly 100 sets of twelve volumes of his monumental work, The Birds and Trees of North America, which he completed in 1932.

The Birds and Trees of North America series, which adorns the covers of these Field Notes notebooks, reproduces six illustrations from this colossal work. Each notebook is thus a tribute to Brasher’s work, offering a glimpse into his passion for nature and his artistic dedication.
